Tucked away directly above Ouray on the exclusive Gold Mountain Ranch 

The Gold Mountain Ranch is probably one of the most unique properties in Ouray. Comprised of many historic mining claims, this ranch ranges in elevation from 7,800 ft to over 10,500 ft. From the stable looking north you can see the entire Ridgway valley floor and Grand Mesa in the distance. On the southside you have a birdseye view of the town of Ouray as well as all of the surrounding mountain peaks. Getting here is no easy task, but is part of the adventure. We pick you up and drive you via 4×4, behind locked gates and on a narrow switchbacking road to the stable. Horseback adventures are ages 8+ and include:

This spot has it all. From 1 hour rides for beginners as young as 5 to awe-inspiring half day rides for the more adventurous rider. Rides here are all in the Uncompahgre National Forest and Wilderness area. Take in unforgettable views of the valley floor to the towering Whitehouse and Corbett Peaks, with historic mines, wildlife, water, and wildflowers in between. 

  • Wrangler Ride – about 1 hour – ages 5+
  • Ranger Ride – about 1.5 hours – ages 7+
  • Buckaroo Ride – about 2 hours – ages 7+
  • Ranch Hand Ride – half day – ages 11+
